Ryan Horkavy

Pastor

Pastor Ryan Horkavy planted Crossroad Baptist Church in 2008 and has been the lead pastor ever since. He earned a BA in Bible in 2001 and MA in Bible in 2003, both from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. He earned a MDiv from International Baptist College and Seminary in Chandler, AZ and is currently completing a Doctor of Ministry degree from Faith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary in Ankeny, Iowa. Before moving to Arizona, Pastor Horkavy, with his wife Jennifer, directed the college ministry at Morningside Baptist Church in Greenville, SC for three and a half years. Sensing God’s clear call to church planting, they and their two children spent two years raising support to move to Arizona to start Crossroad. While in Arizona, Pastor Horkavy served as the Assistant Pastor of Westpointe Baptist Church in Goodyear, for two years. Pastor Ryan and family are passionate about reaching the lost and training the next generation of disciple makers until Jesus comes.

Stephen Shumate

Pastor

Pastor Stephen Shumate joined Crossroad Baptist Church in August of 2021. He was ordained by CBC in January of 2022 and currently serves as the pastor overseeing music and student ministries. He and his wife, Melissa, have been married since 2016. Stephen graduated with Bachelor of Arts in Bible and Christian Service before completing a Master of Arts in Ministry. He is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity degree. Stephen and Melissa believe that God's Word is vital to the every-day life of every believer. They desire to see each and every Christian discipled to know Christ better and to daily live out the Gospel of Christ in their lives.
